Blac is a novel innovative eyewear brand. Revolutionary designer eyewear made from carbon fibre reinforced with titanium. A lightweight frame yet very strong. Blac is the world’s first adjustable carbon fibre frame, with the patent to prove it. Designed and handmade exclusively by our own production team in the Bellinger House in Risskov, Denmark. It is designed by Bellinger.
The fabulous story of Blac;
Begins with designer Claus Bellinger and his fascination of McLaren’s carbon-composite MP4-1 body, which rocked the Formula 1 world at Silverstone in 1981. The MP4-1 was the first full carbon Formula 1 body, designed as a moulding, rather than the traditional series of flat aluminium panels mechanically fixed together. The reward for challenging conventional thinking was a gigantic leap in strength and sturdiness that would revolutionize racing car design. The characteristics of the carbon fibre and fibreglass composite are its unique woven surface, an unusual lightness combined with great strength.
Blac – the original carbon frame;
Years in the making, the development of Blac is that of a true pioneering marathon. Never before had composite materials such as carbon fibre been applied in eyewear productions on a full frame, where the requirement was for it to be adjustable, so hands-on experience was gained from teaming up with an expert in carbon fibre knee joints and athletics sprint prostheses. A hard-earned, labour-intensive, voyage of exploration through trial and error land that has resulted in cutting edge carbon fibre manufacturing know-how.
Handmade in Denmark;
Blac is handmade in Denmark by our own specialized production team located in the Bellinger House in Risskov, Denmark. With the worlds’ first adjustable carbon temple – and with a patent to prove it, the top secret, novel production process allows for each Blac frame to get special attention and craftsmanship, ensuring a unique design of each frame. All frames are custom made by hand for each individual customer with hinges, screws and end tips tailored for our Blac frames. All carbon fibre and fibreglass frames in the Blac line are manufactured using the raw material directly in the process. No lacquer is attached providing each frame with a unique raw surface of the woven carbon fibre and fibreglass fabric.
Blac – patent;
We are proud to have developed the world’s first adjustable carbon frame and now we can prove it. The United States of America have given us a patent (US 7,988,282 B2) for our Blac frames. One of the key features about Blac is the adjustable temples! This is also why we have been given a patent for the idea of implanting a metal core inside a carbon fibre lamination. In our case we use a titanium core, but the patent is for all metal. By doing so we add a new unique feature to the carbon fiber material. With no metal core inside carbon fiber would be completely stiff and if bended return to the original shape. But with the titanium core implanted we add the possibility to change and adjust.
Blac – The stormriders;
The design of the Blac collections is inspired by the surf world, the shapes and materials of surfboards and the designs that are used in this environment. So it was natural to choose names that evolved around surfing. The name Stormriders is the overall description of the Blac collections. Stormriders is also the title of a surf book describing all surf spots around the world. We chose the best, most famous, wildest surf spots/breaks as names of the frames. Bunkers is one of the best surfbreaks in Denmark, Cavaliers and La Piste are both four star breaks in France and attracts the Pro Surf Tour, as well as Lunada Bay, California …

Blac Speedchasers is an eyewear line in the Blac family. Blac Speedchasers is revolutionary eyewear for men and women, with a lightweight titanium front and our adjustable and patented carbon fibre temples. Our Blac Speedchasers are uniquely designed eyewear that combines the streamlined minimalistic titanium look with the super cool fibre surface of the carbon temples. It is smooth and sleek that meets raw and cool. The Blac Speedchasers collection is inspired by the adrenalin junkies of the world. The guys or girls having the need for speed – or are fascinated by the world that revolves around speed. The names of our Speedchasers are all found in the world of speed. The fast and furious racecars, the craziest turns on the best racetracks, motorsports icons or motorsports terms. Bringing tribute to our Danish speedchasers we have frames named after Tom K, Jason W and Jan M. We have paid tribute to the Le Mans and Formula 1 winners with names of MacNish, Niki (Lauda), Kimi (Raikkonen) and Capello (After Rinaldo Capello). Our newest additions have been MotoGP winners – true speedchasers who live or die in their search for the ultimate thrill. We have also brought the speedchasing girls into our Blac Speedchasing universe, naming frames after Vibe (Smed – The only Danish pro female racedriver ) Divina and Duno – also being female drivers. Blac RAW; Blac RAW is a brand new and tough looking carbon surface. The coolness factor is way up with this new way of working the carbon fiber. Matt, RAW and tough are the keywords. We have chosen 5 of our coolest shapes, taken them through a unique and additional process providing these 5 models with the extra RAW expression. The production process for RAW is an extra complete grinding by hand on the entire surface to create the tough RAW look. The additional hand grinded production process keeps Blac RAW at a limited number of frames – making each frame extra special.
Blac goes girlie;
The super cool Blac & Blac Speedchasers collections are no longer exclusively for men. We have tested out the rockstar look for the hot girls with new colors and color-combinations presenting a wide collection that is sleek, masculine and feminine, daring and of course cool. Add a little BLING! We have with great success introduced gold & Silver titanium hinges that gives a little bling to the cool carbon fibre.
